A thin client based network can be a very attractive solution for
various segments of the PC sales market. In fact, thin client computing
is expanding its relevance to so many scenarios that calling it a niche
market would be a bit of a misnomer. Over the last few years, big
players like HP have invested a lot of marketing dollars to promote the
concept. Lowering the total cost of ownership and security for
enterprise computing has been the main focus of such campaigns. But
there are several other reasons why thin clients are such a good option
for business and organizations, the increasing awareness of
environmentally friendly computing options being a major factor. Thin
clients are also perfect for school and university deployment as well,
not to mention the appeal for the developing world.
