"Intel plans to advance the launch of its 45nm Harpertown quad-core processors for 2-way servers to the end of this year, according to sources at Taiwan-based server makers. With Intel's Dual-Core Xeon 5100 (Woodcrest) series, Quad-Core Xeon 5300 (Clovertown) series and Harpertown, AMD will have a difficult time with the launch of its Rev. H processor in the third quarter, noted the sources.
The push up of the launch of Harpertown will not affect the server market much, according to the sources, who noted that Intel's purpose is to limit AMD's growth in the market. But with the lineup from both companies for the second half of the year still unclear, the market is taking a sit and wait attitude, added the sources."
