Intel plans to release a processor (code name Tolapai) that incorporates the functionality of both the north and south bridge chipsets, according to the Chinese-language news website HKEPC Hardware. Intel will target the embedded market with Tolapai, competing against VIA and its C7 processor and AMD and its Geode processor. Tolapai will support up to 2GB DDR2 memory through its integrated controller, which also features dual channel and ECC support. The chip is scheduled to be launched by the end of 2007, noted HKEPC.
