"IBM has asked the U.S. government to ban products from low-cost computer maker Asustek, claiming the Taiwan-based company infringes on its patents.
International Business Machines Corp., based in Armonk, N.Y., filed the complaint on Thursday against Asustek Computer Inc. and its North American subsidiary, Asus Computer International, with the U.S. International Trade Commission.
The dispute is the result of Asustek's continued use of IBM patents after a licensing agreement expired at the end of 2004, IBM said. Asustek rejected IBM's claims and said no patent violation had occurred."
