Gayan Gunasekra wrote in to tell
PCSTATS about his sweet overclocking results with the MSI P965
Platinum motherboard, better than we managed to squeeze out of that
board in fact. Gayan texted in the configuration he used to push MSI's board to 400MHz FSB. PCSTATS managed
375MHz in our overclocking tests, so props to Gayan for outdoing us!
"I've owned the MSI P965
Platinum motherboard since 1/1/07. I've used the bios updates from v1.1 via
v1.5. the 1.5 being the latest. My specs r Intel C2D E6300, 1GB DDR2 Kingston
KVR 667MHz, 320GB Seagate SATA & GF7600GT.
From v1.1-1.4 i'd probs of OC'ing the system. I only managed to get 2 fsb
340 as a stable ground. but after the v1.5 i was able to hit fsb 400 i.e 2.8GHz
with ease. I set the RAM @ 533, then increased CPU volts by 0.0125v, North
Bridge to 1.38v, Chipset 1 & 2 by 2% and RAM to 2.0v.
The system is exceptionally stable at those speeds n
i ws very much impressed. But i think its a little too late in the game since
now the P3x series has been released. But, if sum1 still hopes to go2 a p965
M/B. I'd say get this n update the BIOS to v1.5 and u'll be rocking your way
thrugh the fsb's. Worth another review i'd say. Thanks PCStats for
letting me do a feedback."
