AMD might have talked a little about the R600 at CES but it won't be giving away any samples until the end of February. The current silicon, namely revision number A12 is working nicely but AMD wants to present A13 as the 'final' R600, meaning another delay although a short one.
The revised plan is for a release around (or maybe at) CeBIT (Hannover, 15-21 March 07) with samples being sent out to manufacturers and the press on February 28. AMD currently has two versions of the card, a 12" design for OEMs and a 9" one for the end user which it plans to have in sufficient quantities on the launch date, making it a 'hard launch'.
