"VIA Technologies on January 2 reported estimated revenues of NT$1.109 billion (US$34 million) for December of 2006, decreasing by 51.64% on year.
The large year-on-year decrease was mainly due to the negative impact of a rumor that Intel was forcing VIA out of the global market for processors, VIA pointed out. In addition, sales of the C7, VIA's new processors offered in early 2006 to replace its C3 series, has been short of expectations, the company indicated.
However, VIA is optimistic about 2007, especially about the business opportunities that Microsoft Windows Vista is expected to bring, VIA said."
