Digitimes Reports bad news for Gigabyte in the last quarter of 2006. "Motherboard shipments of Gigabyte Technology dropped over 30% sequentially in the fourth quarter of 2006 to 3.1 million units, a decline larger than those seen by major fellow competitors Asustek Computer, Micro-Star International (MSI), and Elitegroup Computer System (ECS), according to market sources cited by the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN).

The sources pointed out that Gigabyte's sharp drop in shipments was the result of CPU shortages and a transfer of its business to Gigabyte United, a newly established joint-venture with Asustek."
