A sad bit of news today - Arthur C. Clarke has passed away at the age of 90, at his home in Sri Lanka.

Arthur C. Clarke was a legendary science fiction writer, wrote 2001: A Space Odyssey (directed by the equally impressive Stanley Kubrick), and invented the telecommunications satellite among a long list of achievements.
