China-based chipmakers Hua Hong NEC (HHNEC) and Hejian Technology have seen contract orders for large-size LCD driver ICs reduced significantly for the fourth quarter of 2009, while Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) are also seeing customers being cautious in placing orders, particularly for the large-size segment, according to industry sources in China.
