With the exception of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), most wafer foundries, including United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Company (SMIC), are likely to post losses in the fourth quarter of this year due to slackening demand, according to industry watchers in Taiwan.
