"Asustek Computer plans to announce a series of business reorganization plans after the Lunar New Year break, according to Jerry Shen, president of the company.
The company plans to merge resources from businesses including digital family and desktop PCs, and will optimize manpower of all business units.
Asustek's notebook business will separate into two segments – one in charge of consumer models and one in charge of enterprise and low-cost models. Each segment will have a specific manager in charge of running operations and who will take full responsibility for any problems, noted Shen.
Asustek plans to reduce manpower in its motherboard and graphics card businesses and will implement the same segment separation strategy as for the notebook businesses. Asustek will maintain its shipment goals for 2009 of 7.2 million Eee PCs, 6.5 million notebooks, 22 million motherboards and six million graphics cards."
