OCW Reports more interesting details about Computex 2008 this week. "Bitnet visited a Taiwanese manufacturer and took the photo of the upcoming HD 4850 graphics card. Below is a picture of the card.
The RV770Pro Radeon HD 4850 comes with 512MB GDDR3, aka Makedon. Estimated retail price would be between 179 - 219 USD.
It will be launched on 18 June 2008. As NVIDIA is bringing forward the launch date of GeForce GTX 280 and 260 to 17 June, there is a possibility that AMD might bring forward it's launch not to be outshined by NVIDIA.
The Radeon HD 4850 will not be a paper launch. It will be on sale on the same day as announcement date. The higher end RV770XT Radeon HD 4870 will come later. It will be paired up with GDDR5 memory. R700 Radeon HD 4870 X2 will not be available in the near future."
