In use the Sapphire Radeon HD4770 512MB graphics card performed admirably. It is not the ultimate gaming solution (and doesn't claim to be), but for about $100 it is definitely impressive. It can put up solid numbers in games with the settings turned up and it won't make your electric meter spin out of control in the process.

Life's about compromises and the one compromise here is the price tag that comes with the Matrix 5870 Platinum. Arguably, the extra memory adds to the cost of goods and needs to be reflected in the price tag but even with the most demanding games of today, there is not much benefit for the 2 GB solution compared to a 1 GB offering. On the other hand, it is not always the needfulness of things that makes it an exciting product, instead, it is the presence of features and the engineering prowess of the implementation and that is where ASUS has done an absolutely formidable job. The bottom line is that you get what you pay for, in this case, yes, it is a bit of extra money but it is also probably the world's best engineered consumer graphics card that that extra money will buy
