Intel Goes Shopping |

Intel announced today that they will purchase and open yet another foundry. This announcement to purchase Rockwell International's plant come just after the groundbreaking of Intel's new plant, to be built in Arizona. This however is not expected to be Intel's last purchase in their current shopping spry. The growth the market is such that Intel is expected to continue to purchases plants over the next year.
The down turn in the industry in 1996 cause many fabs to be shut down, the Rockwell plant that Intel will purchase was built in 1996 but never used. It will now be used to manufacture flash memory, a key component of cell phones.
