The reports that Intel is cracking down on notebook makers and IC distributors in Taiwan to stop Atom CPUs and chipsets flowing via the gray market to white-box netbook makers in China, at first glance paints a picture of the tyrannical blue giant imposing its will on poor entrepreneurs trying to scrape together a simple dollar. But, read between the lines and ask a few pertinent questions, and maybe a much more interesting image is revealed, one that shows Intel is just doing business as usual, while at least one netbook player is likely to end up with egg on his face, if it cannot offload its current stocks of Atom components.
