ASUS Strikes EPEAT Gold with VH Series LCD Monitors - PCstats.com ASUS Strikes EPEAT Gold with VH Series LCD Monitors
Thu, May 21 2009 | 12:02PM | PermaLink Feedback?
www.pcstats.comFive ASUS VH Series LCD monitors with screen sizes ranging from 20" to 24" have been certified by EPEAT™ at the Gold level, the highest environmental rating possible. EPEAT is an international organization that evaluates PCs based on their environmental attributes. Designed and manufactured in strict adherence to GreenASUS principles, the ASUS VH202T-P, VH222H-P, VH232H-P, VH236H-P and VH242H-P successfully met or exceeded the required criteria and at least 75% of the optional criteria necessary to receive a Gold rating from EPEAT. These LCD monitors now join ASUS’ Bamboo Series and N Series notebooks in the elite rung of electronic products bearing the EPEAT Gold eco-label.

ASUS VH Series LCD monitors were found to excel in each of the eight Environmental Performance Categories defined by the IEEE 1680 standard which EPEAT is based on:

This is the result of a company-wide green mindset cultivated by the GreenASUS steering committee led by the Chairman of ASUSTek Computer Inc., Jonney Shih. Through GreenASUS, every decision along the design, procurement, manufacturing and service chain is dictated by what produces the greenest outcome—represented by the four 'home runs': Green Design, Green Manufacturing, Green Procurement and Green Services and Marketing. Specific measures pertaining to ASUS VH Series LCD monitors include utilizing new manufacturing techniques to reduce mercury use as well as the use of post-consumer recycled plastic without affecting product performance and reliability.

ATI Radeon HD 5550 512MB GDDR5 Video Card - PCstats.com ATI Radeon HD 5550 512MB GDDR5 Video Card
Sat, September 18 2010 | 12:02PM | PermaLink Feedback?
"The last few months have brought with them bugger all ATI samples which in turn has brought no real ATI coverage. Here at TweakTown the last ATI card we looked at was a very boring HD 5670 in June. The last time we really got excited about some ATI cards was back in May. The problem is that I don't think it’s really going to change today as we look at the HD 5550 which is a model ATI have decided to slap some GDDR5 on to. Already recognized as a low end card, we really wonder if the inclusion of this memory is going to make a difference. Is the HD 5550 with its GDDR5 a model that can stand out on its own and get attention in its own right, or is it simply a way to make sure that there's a little bit of red amongst the sea of green that's currently happening? - There's only one way to find out."
