As we all know, the 3D market has been swallowed up by Nvidia and it's fantastic market as of late, and all has been very quiet on AMD's front.
Obviously, we have heard a bit of AMD based banter with regards to the new 6870 card being faster than the GTX 460 from Nvidia, the 6800 performance figures that were leaked, and of course the all important launch date of the 6850 and 6870 but what's so new about that? All companies bring out new products.
However, you may not have known about some of the new 3D capabilities that the 6800 cards include, including Blu-Ray 3D support. This is made possible with Multiview Video Coding or MVC for short, in UVD 3 which is short for Universal Video Decoder 3. What this is simply, is a new version of the graphics within an integrated hardware-based video decoding format. H.264 is a prime example of this.

"The DirectCompute 5.0 technology is going to allow you to use the card for CAD applications and give you better performance than using an integrated video solution. DVD and Blu-ray playback is also a big plus with this card if you are looking to build an HTPC, as it will allow you to use what ever format disc you wish to, only being limited to the drive that you have installed in the system."
