"The ultimate goal of combining general processor execution with modern GPU functionality in a single package has been the goal ever since AMD and ATI merged. Dubbed “Fusion”, this technology aims not only to provide affordable solutions across multiple platforms, AMD also intends to raise the bar of the baseline PC experience by delivering better performance and efficiency than their competitors. It is not a simple plan but is part of a multi-pronged push by AMD to increase market share, taking advantage of the momentum provided by the success of their DirectX 11 GPUs introduced last year. With CES only a few months away, AMD intends to keep the market on its toes as it announces multiple exciting new products and projects so they can get a head start before the year is over."

PowerColor's HD 5770 PCS++ could be described as an evolutionary step from the HD 5770 PCS+, targeted at overclockers. It is the first HD 5770 that comes with a Volterra voltage regulator which allows software voltage control. This enables tweakers to get higher overclocks out of their card without complicated modding.
