"In fact, what really happens is what the curved line labeled
Sandy Bridge symbolizes. When the 2.5 GHz CPU is boosted to 2.8 GHz,
the frequency and power draw change instantly but the temperature on
the die does not; it rises over a period of time and then settles at
the new level. The next-generation Turbo Boost technology takes
advantage of this knowledge and actually increases frequency more
aggressively during this period of ramp."
