Wed, July 12 2000 | 3:14AM | PermaLink Feedback?
Amacomr launches new USB Translucent Flipdisk Amacomr Technologies Limited, a manufacturer of innovative portable data storage devices, has announced the launch of their new translucent Flipdisk, which now incorporates USB connectivity as well as PCMCIA and parallel port. The Translucent Flipdisk still retains the outstanding features of the original Flipdisk - notably amazingly fast data transfer rates and access times, high capacity and ease of use. But now, it incorporates USB connection via an optional cable kit, which will be even more attractive to users who need a fast and reliable back-up solution for their laptop, desktop and MAC stations. John Michael, Managing Director of Amacomr Technologies said `Customer demand for a USB Flipdisk has been overwhelming. The new translucent Flipdisk will ensure that Amacom captures an even larger share of the portable data storage market and will allow us the opportunity to tap into the highly lucrative Mac market as well.' Flipdisk is the ultimate portable data storage device, as it is powered directly via USB or PCMCIA - or through the keyboard cable for the parallel version. Flipdisk is the easiest and most reliable way to back-up, add additional storage capacity, transfer data and to store confidential data. The user has immediate access to an additional 18Gb of storage with a 25GB version to be launched in August 2000. Flipdisk incorporates standard 2.5" hard drives manufactured by Toshiba and IBM, which are extremely robust and shock resistant in design and operation. In addition Amacomr incorporates specially designed shock absorbers and supplies the Flipdisk in a padded carry case for added peace of mind. Existing Flipdisk users will also be able to enjoy USB connectivity by simply purchasing an adaptor cable, which will be available from all authorised resellers. The Flipdisk is the most innovative product in Amacom's data storage range. Launched in February 1998, this portable hard drive has provided a viable alternative to laptop users who need to upgrade their hard drives, back-up their data, store confidential data, transfer data with a compact and truly portable data storage device. Flipdisk is compatible with DOS, Windows 3.xx, 95, 98, 2000, NT, OS2, Unix, Linux and MAC OS.
