In early February, software will be made available to allow different archiving formats to be used by the Lyra, namely MusicMatch and Windows Media compression format.
But will anyone want a MP3 player when a the host of MP3/CD hybrid start to arrive? Even RCA is announcing one that will be able to play back CD's and MP3CD's for about the same price as a portable CD player goes for nowadays. I mean if you consider that listed price for 64MB or Lyra ($200) flash memory is an astronomical $250, why would you bother to stick with flash based MP3'ing right now? Opinions?
