Benchmarks: Comanche 4, X2: The Threat, UT2003, UT2004

Comanche 4 Source: Novalogic

The Comanche 4 benchmark demo is a unique benchmark as it represents a real-world gaming experience. It contains the single player "Eagle's Talon" mission from the game as well as a detailed cinematic. This DirectX 8.1 benchmark demo will measure your system's performance in the standard frames per second format. The benchmark was run with audio disabled.

Motherboards Points Ranking
Gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D (925X 200/400) 59.44
Gigabyte GA-8GPNXP (915P 200/400 61.02
Albatron PX915G Pro (915G 200/400) 58.62
DFI LANParty 875P-T (i875P 200/400) 55.72

At 640x480 resolutions, the systems are not videocard limited. In these tests we see the i875P based DFI LANParty 875P-T brings up the rear with a 6 FPS loss over the best results.

X2: The Threat Source: Egosoft

A completely rewritten 3D engine based on DirectX8 encompasses many visual effects such as volumetric Nebulae (gas clouds) that have a real impact in the game (you can hide in them), many new engine, shield, weapon and explosion effects. Objects cast real dynamic 3D shadows! Dynamic DP3 bump mapping allows a previously unseen level of detail.

Motherboards Points Ranking
Gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D (925X 200/400) 184.172
Gigabyte GA-8GPNXP (915P 200/400 126.062
Albatron PX915G Pro (915G 200/400) 118.191
DFI LANParty 875P-T (i875P 200/400) 166.843

It looks like X2: The Threat likes the bandwidth available on the 925X based Gigabyte motherboard a bit more than the i875P based DFI LANParty 875P-T. The 875P-T's showing is still pretty good though.

Unreal Tournament 2003

Unreal Tournament 2003 is the sequel to 1999's multiple 'Game of the Year' award winner. It uses the very latest Unreal Engine technology - where graphics, sound and game play are taken beyond the bleeding edge. Unreal Tournament 2003 employs the use of Vertex as well as Pixel Shaders and it's recommended that you use a DirectX 8 videocard to get the most out of the game.

Albatron PX915G Pro (915G 200/400) 80.43
DFI LANParty 875P-T (i875P 200/400) 83.23

While the DFI LANParty 875P-T motherboard is slightly slower than a motherboard based on the new 925X chipset, it's not as far behind as we might have first thought.
