The Asus A8N-SLI BIOS

Asus uses Phoenix BIOSes with its motherboards, and while it might look different from the more common Award variety, it still has all the same functionality.

In the DRAM configuration section we have a whole load of memory timing adjustments. Included are CAS Latency, RAS to CAS, and another important timing Row Cycle Time in particular.

In the JumperFree Configuration Section we find the motherboard overclocking features. The motherboard clock speed can be increased from 200-400 MHz in 1 MHz increments, for example. Users can also adjust the PCI Express frequency, but in our experience that one is best left alone. DDR voltages go as high as 3V, chipset 1.6V, HyperTransport 1.25V and CPU voltages to 1.65V.

PCstats has upgraded its test platform with a couple of 74GB Western Digital WD740 Raptor hard drives, replacing the trusty 40GB WD IDE HDDs as test drives. Please keep that in mind when viewing the office and disk benchmarks. The Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard was tested with two sets of videocards - an MSI RX800XT in single PCI Express mode, and a pair of MSI Geforce NX6600GT's for SLI mode.
