Having a computer screen which is easy to read and not too hard on the eyes is important. A 17" monitor is the bare minimum, 19" is the average, and 21" is a great if you can afford it...

Conclusions
In conclusion we really like this monitor for several
reasons. Firstly, the screen, while it is of the Cathode Ray Tube variety
is very flat, and there are not many problems with reflections. Secondly the
protective coating on the screen in hardly noticeable when looking at an angle.
I've seen some monitors with have a blue shine to them that can get rather
annoying after a while. The auto-suspend feature is a blessing, as we hardly
every remember to shut off the monitor. Lastly, the screen sharpness holds true
when the contrast and brightness are pumped all the way to the max. On
less expensive models I've often seen the screen loose
its sharpness, or the images become distorted through this kind
of test.
Lastly and most importantly (to my neck anyways) the
monitor sits on a swivel base that is exceptionally easy to adjust, and even
when resolution is at its highest, type and characters remain visible and
entirely sharp. If you are looking for a good,
not too expensive monitor I can easily recommend the ADI
Microscan E66.
