CASIO ANNOUNCES U.S. LAUNCH OF POWERFUL 2.1 POUND CASSIOPEIA FIVA MPC-206E SUB-NOTEBOOK WITH TRANSMETA'S CRUSOE"! PROCESSOR

DOVER, NJ, May 9, 2001-Casio, Inc., Dover, N.J., in conjunction with Casio Computer Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, announced today that the CASSIOPEIA FIVA MPC-206E, with the Crusoe"! processor from Transmeta (Nasdaq: TMTA) will be available in the U.S. this month. It will sell at the suggested price of $1,999.99.

The sleek new CASSIOPEIA FIVA MPC-206E offers powerful performance and up to nine hours of continuous operation. The MPC-206E is an ideal traveling partner for the mobile business professional. The product ships with Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, and is also designed to support Linux as an alternative operating system. The MPC-206E also features an A/B mode switch to change from Windows Me to a limited Linux operating system instantly. Linux allows the device to skip the Windows boot-up when it comes to certain applications like MP3 player and FTP client.

"Casio is committed to developing mobile devices that are lightweight, highly functional and energy efficient", said Todd Weissman, vice president of Casio's Mobile Information Products Division. "Casio has significant experience manufacturing personal digital products. The MPC-206E further exemplifies our strategy to develop leading edge products designed especially for the mobile work force". The MPC-206E is available with the recently announced CasioMobile wireless internet service, using a variety of PCMCIA wireless modems.

"When people see this 2.1 pound Casio notebook, they can't believe it is loaded with a 20 gigabyte hard drive, full networking options and a 600MHz processor," said Jim Chapman, executive vice president of sales and marketing, Transmeta Corporation.
