Remote and resolution

Where's the remote?

to form, the SyncMaster 150MP comes equipped with an Infrared remote. The remote has a small and overly stiff cursor pad that links directly into the OSD menu capabilities. It runs on two AAA's which are included. The only bad thing we can say about the 150MP revolves around the rather shallow range the remote has if you are less than three feet from the display.

Resolution Settings

Resolution setting on a flat panel LCD display are always slightly different than that of their CRT relatives. With an LCD display, it is always best to operate it at the maximum resolution - in this case at a resolution of 1024x768 pixels. With the computer set at this resolution there is no dithering effect on the image because each dot in the TFT panel accurately corresponds to the resolution setting. The full list of supported resolutions and frequencies are listed below:

Display Resolutions:
Resolution Freq Hor. Freq Ver. Pixel Clock Standard
720x400 31.5kHz 70Hz 28.3MHz VGA
640x480 31.5kHz 60Hz 25.2MHz VGA

1024x768 48.4kHz 60Hz 65.0MHz XGA
1024x768 68.7kHz 85Hz 94.5MHz XGA
1024x768 60.0kHz 75Hz 78.8MHz XGA

The On Screen Display that Samsung use with the 150MP (and 170MP) is simply the best we have every seen on a display. I know it's hard to take much interest in these little menus, but after looking at a billion blue-screen horrors it was quite surprising to see an OSD as nice as this.
