EPoX 8KHA+ Motherboard Review - PCSTATS
Having heard many great things about the EPoX 8KHA+ I was very excited to get my hands on one, and test it to the limits.

Hey, I know what you're thinking, how come so many devices/fans? Remember, I said this board was going to replace my Iwill KK266-R so might as well use everything! Oh, by the way all those fans combined are not as loud as (1) 60mm Delta fan by itself!

Sisoft Sandra: CPU Benchmark

Sisoft Sandra: Memory Bandwidth Benchmark

Sandra is a good tester of pure power. As we can see, they all perform within a few hundred points of each other. The Sandra memory benchmark used to be one of my favorites, however now it's become quite ridiculous. It's common knowledge that the i850/RDRam combo has the most memory bandwidth. There's no way a DDR system can match it! I liked the older memory tester in 2001 TE, as it measured more realistic bandwidth.

Content Creation Winstone 2001
Setting: Content Creation Winstone
12.5x133
66.7 Winstone Units
10x170
70.2 Winstone Units

There isn't much of a noticeable difference between the two systems according to Content Creation. More of a CPU test and since the speeds are so close together, it's no surprise the performance is very similar.

ZDNet's Winbench99

WinMark 99
Setting: Business Disk High-end Disk: Business Graphics: High-end Graphics:
12.5x133
10200

19000

777
2300
10x170
10400
19300
811
2410

The little difference in the CPU speed makes up the difference in this benchmark. It's not something a person could really notice though. Let's take a look at some 3D benchmarks now!

MadOnion 3DMark 2000 Ver 1.1
Setting: 3D Marks
12.5x133 10982
10x170 11493

3DMark2000 notices a minor difference between the two systems. A difference of 500 points really isn't much anymore all things considered.

3DMark2001

MadOnion 3DMark 2001
Setting: 3D Marks
12.5x133 7659
10x170 8177

3DMark2001 is well known for loving high bus speeds, this time, it clearly favors the system with a 170 MHz FSB! 3DMark2001 is a pretty good DirectX8 benchmark.

Vulpine's GLMark
Setting: Score
12.5x133 77.3
10x170

79.3

Hmm... it looks like GLMark is more of a video card benchmark as it can barely differentiate between the two systems. Okay, I'm pretty tired of the synthetics right now. Let's take a look at some real world game engines :-)
