AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB Reference Video Cards in CrossFire
     Wed, Mar 07 2012 | 1:03P | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Already really impressed with what the new HD 7800 series can offer, it`s time to throw a second HD 7870 into the mix and see what kind of performance this $700 CrossFire setup brings to that table. If previous HD 7000 series cards are anything to go by, though, we should get some great performance with impressive scaling. If you haven`t looked at our individual reviews of the new HD 7800 series cards I highly recommend you head on over and check out our thoughts on the new $249 HD 7850 and more expensive $349 HD 7870."

AMD Radeon HD 7850 and 7870 review
     Wed, Mar 07 2012 | 9:43A | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
We review the AMD Radeon HD 7850 and 7870. These two new mid-range cards are going to shift the dynamics in the graphics arena alright, as the entire package including performance is very impressive for the 7800 series. A product series that is to replace the 6800-series performance-wise, it is based on AMD`s 28nm process and of course the latest Graphics Core Next GPU architecture. AMD is going to fill the 250 to 250 USD segment with two products perfectly capable of battling with the GeForce GTX 570 and GTX 580. Read our review right here"

News: AMDs Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition
     Mon, Mar 05 2012 | 4:00P | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
At long last, AMD has filled the gaping hole in its next-generation Radeon lineup. A new pair of graphics cards bas come to slot in right between the high-end Radeon HD 7900 series and the decidedly less high-end 7700 series, offering gamers some fresh meat at $249. And today`s arrivals have the potential to be AMD`s most compelling next-gen offerings yet."

AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition & 7850 Video Card Review @ Legit Reviews
     Mon, Mar 05 2012 | 1:36P | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
The AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition ($349) performed better than the AMD Radeon HD 6970 ($364.09) and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 ($329.99) and in some cases it was trading blows with the mighty GeForce GTX 580 ($449.99). When this card becomes available on March 19th, 2012 we expect that pricing on other cards on the market will be adjusted. This card was very powerful and in some benchmarks and games we found it being only slightly slower than a stock Radeon HD 7950 3GB card that costs nearly $100 more. The AMD Radeon HD 7870 GHz edition card is solid and ideal for those running..."

AMD Radeon HD 7870 and Radeon HD 7850 Graphics Cards Launch Review @ HardwareHeaven.com Today AMD launch the 7800 series and allow us to look at their reference cards with partner availability to come later (around March 19th). With the same features as the 7900 series yet a significantly lower price today we find how well they compete with the 7950 and 6870 while looking in detail at the comparison with NVIDIAs GTX 560 Ti and GTX 570."

AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB Reference Video Card Review
     Mon, Mar 05 2012 | 1:29P | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
We`ve mentioned a lot about our thoughts on the HD 7700 series as a whole along with the general thought process on each model and like we`ve said every time, while AMD has the HD 6800 series at a similar price point, the HD 7700 series continues to lose its shine as it sits slower. The HD 7800 series and HD 7900 series on the other hand don`t have any competition within their own camp giving us a price point from AMD that isn`t offered at the moment. So far we`ve seen the HD 7850 hits that $249 price tag perfectly. Now we want to find out if the extra $100 associated with the HD 7870 is worth the jump up."

AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB and HD 7850 2GB Pitcairn Review
     Mon, Mar 05 2012 | 1:26P | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Where the Radeon HD 7900 cards were impressive from a pure performance stand point and the Radeon HD 7700 cards brought new features and performance per watt to the sub $200 market, the HD 7800 cards are really the ones we think warrant the most attention from gamers. For $250, the Radeon HD 7850 offers a significantly better gaming experience than the GTX 560 Ti from NVIDIA while offering enough overclocking headroom to reach towards the GTX 570."

With today?s release of the HD 7870 and HD 7850, AMD has achieved their goal of having a complete top to bottom desktop graphics card lineup based upon the new GCN architecture. These two new entries into the lineup are meant to effectively bridge the gap between the high end and entry level markets. With of $349 and $249 respectively, they could be exactly what gamers have been waiting for. * *"

AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB Reference Video Card Review
     Mon, Mar 05 2012 | 1:17P | Video Cards | PermaLink

While the HD 7700 series left us feeling overall pretty flat, the same can`t be said for AMD`s new HD 7900 series which offered us awesome performance. Along with strong numbers, though, we saw the new 28nm based cards run cooler, quieter and draw less power at both idle and load - they impressed us a lot. We`ve got our fingers crossed that the HD 7800 series sits more in line with the HD 7900 series than it does the HD 7700 series. Considering AMD also have no older previous generation video cards at the $249 price point for the HD 7850 and $349 price point for the HD 7870, we`re already off to a better start."

Today AMD released their new Radeon HD 7800 Series, which is based on their new 28 nm Pitcairn graphics processor. The HD 7850 and HD 7870 offer a significant performance increase over the previous generation - up to 40% faster in our testing. Power consumption is also at a new record low, putting these cards in the leading performance per Watt spot."

Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 Dirt 3 Edition Video Card Review

"Sapphire's latest game-themed card is based on the AMD Radeon HD 6950, otherwise known as Cayman Pro from the Northern Islands series. The card is a custom PCB design, shorter than the reference AMD one. The main difference is in the cooling, the standard vapor chamber and blower-style fan is replaced by a large diameter copper heatpipe heatsink with dual axial fans. Bundled with DiRT 3, this card is for enthusiasts of the franchise and the graphics technology."
