PowerColor Radeon HD 7950 PCS+ review
     Tue, Jan 31 2012 | 1:41P | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
PowerColor is the first in our line-up of R7950 reviews with a customized model. It is the PCS version that clocks in at a cool 880 MHz on the graphics core with it's memory clocked default at an effective data rate of 5000 MHZ. Armed witha custom cooler it is silent, and even cooler compared to the reference model.

Three AMD Radeon HD 7950 Articles

It is time for the second product based of the series 7900 though, the Radeon HD 7950 launches today. AMD took the Tahiti XT GPU sliced away some shader units, clocked it a notch slower and planted it onto a new PCB lined up with a new cooler. Overall the R7950 will not disappoint, good performance, impressive power consumption and great heat and noise levels. But will a 400 EUR pricetag however justify this product ?

With the HD 7970 already claiming the King of the Hill title, you know that the title comes a tall price tag. So if you are like me and know you can get some of that awesome speed and features for less money then you need to look at the SAPPHIRE HD 7950 OC.

Our launch coverage of the Radeon HD 7950 continues with a three-way roundup of cards from PowerColor, Sapphire and XFX. Unlike the reference model we just reviewed, these cards get all the fancy fixings for an additional $30-50 at most compared to AMD's stock offering. They're definitely making something good even better, but how much better? Hit our roundup to find out

AMD Radeon HD 7950 Tahiti Pro DirectX 11 GPU Review

At the time of the Radeon HD 7970’s announcement, we knew the Radeon HD 7950 would be based on the same GPU and that it would arrive a few weeks after the 7970, but its final specifications and price point hadn’t been disclosed. As it turns out, we’ve had a couple of the cards in-house for a little while now and can finally reveal all of the juicy details. AMD has also provided a fresh set of drivers which reportedly enhance the performance of the 7900-Series cards, so we recorded another set of scores with the 7970 using the updated drivers to show how much additional performance AMD was able to wring out of its newest GPU in the few weeks since we last took a look at it...

The AMD Radeon HD 7970's kid brother isn't some pint-sized runt, as this single GPU bad boy still packs one mean punch. Yet at $449, the Radeon HD 7950 isn't exactly mid-range either. The HD 7950 takes us to round two for AMD's GCN architecture, now hit our review to see how it stacks against NVIDIA's best.

Nouveau For A $10 NVIDIA Graphics Card

In this article is a look at the state of the open-source Nouveau Gallium3D driver on low-end NVIDIA GeForce graphics hardware. In particular, a $10 USD NVIDIA retail graphics card is being tested under Ubuntu Linux on both Nouveau and the proprietary NVIDIA driver and is then compared to a wide range of other low and mid-range offerings from NVIDIA`s GeForce and AMD`s Radeon graphics card line-up with a plethora of OpenGL benchmarks."

AMD HD7950 Tahiti Pro Review @ Vortez

The Pro version of the AMD graphics card range appeal more to the budget conscious. Of course, being a top of the line GPU, the HD7950 will be anything but cheap but if it can hold its own against the more expensive (and more powerful) HD7970 without making too many sacrifices then the HD7950 is sure to appeal to the market and if it overclocks only half as well as the HD7970 then you will be getting HD7970 performance for less outlay."

After spending some time with the AMD Radeon HD 7950 we found it to be to be a very capable graphics card that was hands down faster than the AMD Radeon HD 6970/6950 from the previous generation. From our performance numbers it looks like the AMD Radeon HD 7950 should have no problem beating the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 video card and as you saw in our test results it was even able to beat out the EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified in a number of benchmarks..."

Today AMD released their new Radeon HD 7950, the second card to be based on AMD`s GCN shader architecture. Compared to its bigger brother, the HD 7970, the card comes with less shaders and reduced clock speeds. Other features have remained the same, like 3 GB memory, improved power consumption and support for EyeFinity."

AMD Radeon HD 7950 3GB Graphics Card Review
     Tue, Jan 31 2012 | 11:01A | Video Cards | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
If AMD and its partners can get 900 MHz options out there for under the price of the GeForce GTX 580 and just as importantly, keep them in stock, then I think we have another big winner on our hands. The HD 7950 3GB is faster than the GTX 580, uses less power, offers more features, has twice the frame buffer capacity for higher resolutions and multi-display gaming and costs less. That is a conclusion that demands an Editor`s Choice if I ever heard one; we only hope you`ll see these cards in stock to buy for yourself."

Sapphire Radeon 7950 Overclock Edition vs 7970 OC vs GTX 580 OC vs 6970 OC Review Regardless of the reason for its late arrival the 7950 launches today and one of our launch day cards is Sapphires 7950 Overclock. With a custom PCB and cooler this factory overclocked card has two different BIOS profiles and is without doubt one of the more interesting models available. We will be putting it up against overclocked versions of the GTX 580 3GB, 7970 and 6970 to find out how each performs on Intel i7/X79 @ 5.0GHz.
