The iP90 from iHome comes with an easy adjustable dock to fit our Ipod or Iphone, features dual alarms, EQ, a 3D sound setting, top buttons for different adjustments with backlight and more; the bass is more powerful than the iP49, but it is not as compact as the former.

Asus Xonar DG Headphone Amp Sound Card Review
     Thu, Feb 17 2011 | 12:02P | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
"Asus' Xonar line continues its impressive lineup with the Xonar DG, proving to be an exceptional value at $30. It does a good job providing richer, fuller sound over speakers, but the built-in headphone amp is where this card really excels."

Antec Soundscience Rockus 3D 2.1 Speaker System Review
     Sun, Feb 13 2011 | 9:02A | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
“We all know Antec for making great PC cases and power supplies. We all know someone with an Antec case and that just shows the quality of their products. Antec knows a lot about making cases and power supplies, but when I heard they were going to making speakers a was a little bit skeptical. We have seen so many companies just use an OEM to get into another market, and what comes out is a very poor product. Luckily Antec is not one of those companies, they introduce you to Soundscience an Antec subsidiary that is set to produce audio and video lifestyle products. Their first product is the Rockus 3D 2.1 Speaker System and we have them up on the testing block today."

MXL V89 Condenser Microphone Review
     Thu, Feb 10 2011 | 4:02P | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
“Today I am reviewing the V89 Condenser Microphone from MXL. The V89 is one of the newest microphones that MXL has released into their line of many great microphones. I have used other MXL microphones before and the V89 is by far one of the best ones I have had the pleasure of testing out. For the price range of the V89 you will find it hard to pass by, especially with other microphones in the same price range offering fewer features and less quality components.”

Corsair SP2500 2.1 232W Audio Speaker Kit Review
     Sat, Jan 29 2011 | 4:01P | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
"When the Corsair SP2500 2.1 PC speaker system showed up in the test lab we hooked it up and were shocked to hear our music. We were able to hear details in the audio that we weren't able to make out on our old speaker system. The satellite speakers on the SP2500 are amazing and the midrange audio is crystal clear. Most audiophiles talk about sound separation and having bass that overpowers vocals and we finally get what they were talking about. The Logitech Z-5300 system that we were running appears to have had greatly exaggerated bass and as a result we were actually missing out on the clarity of our audio tracks..."

Logitech Lapdesk N700 USB Speaker Cooler
     Sun, Jan 16 2011 | 12:00P | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
With today's fast paced world, mobile and convenient notebooks gradually replacing their immobile and clumsy desktop cousins, the fidelity and immersion of entertainment offered by full sized speakers are often sacrificed for portability. While enjoying your favourite movie in HD while on the couch, it's often difficult to miss the warpdrive-like fan spooling up over the distant and artificial sound produced by the "it will do" speakers. While there are plenty of notebook coolers on the market, as well as portable speakers, Logitech's Lapdesk line attempts to combine the two in a perfect fusion of both convenience and quality. Today, I have the Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N700, the alpha dog of the product line, to see how it improves the experience of notebook entertainment. Read on for my full review.

Posted by: STAFF
"The LTB MG51-USB True 5.1 Surround Headphone Set delivers 5.1 Dolby surround in a headset setup. The LTB MG51-USB uses a unique three chamber per earpiece design that allows for full surround sound without the need for a large setup, or even a larger room. With a built in USB 5.1 sound card, the MG51 needs no other connections excepting a single USB. Aside from TV and movies, the LTB MG51-USB is up for the challenge of 5.1 games, and even includes a built in microphone for two way communication."

Wicked Audio, the folks known for cheap headphones that actually sound good, were at CES 2011 this year. At their booth they showed off two of their new headphones: the 3D Series (shown above) and a new ear bud series known as the Helix series. We recently reviewed their Reverb series and was quite impressed with the performance for the dollar. These two new series of headphones give us just a little more choice for our dollar.
