Roccat Kulo 7.1 Virtual Surround headset
     Wed, Jun 08 2011 | 9:01A | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
"Roccat recently sent us over the Kulo 2.0 headset. It did alright, but there were some issues. Already though, the peripheral maker has released a second edition, or an alternative version; this one coming with a virtual 7.1 surround sound card. It’s USB powered and has a reasonable price tag, but will it improve over its predecessor? Let’s see."

Creative Labs Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Sigma Headset Review
     Sat, May 28 2011 | 4:03P | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
"It seems that producing an algorithm based surround headset is becoming quite a trend of late with several already having made their way to us for testing over the last few months. Obviously producing a simple stereo headset with software driven surround sound capability is going to be a cheaper and probably more viable option for most large companies, as opposed to more complex designs. And this is possibly why we are seeing such a swing in this direction of late. Today we are looking at the Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Sigma, which most notably uses the company's famous Sound Blaster name in order to swing attention away from competition and towards this product. Nothing really exiting with regards to the specifications list except that Creative has chosen to use a large 50mm driver like much of the competition. This large driver allows for greater mid range extension and clarity while providing an overall bigger sound from the headset."

Microlab SOLO6C Powered Stereo Speakers Review
     Fri, May 27 2011 | 6:35P | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
"Microlab are a company operating out of China that we had simply never heard of up until now, which does seem strange because they are rather good at what they do. But more on that later. In the world of Hi-Fi audio small sized stereo speakers for a couple of hundred go by the dozen. In fact, there are so many options out there that it's nearly impossible to hear everything on offer when making a decision. Luckily, however, in the world of multimedia audio we do not have nearly the amount of confusion to deal with. In fact, we cannot think of any system we have tested to even compare the Microlab SOLO6C against."

News - Arctic Sound P321 USB Headset Review at Overclockers Online
     Thu, May 12 2011 | 11:50A | Audio / Sound | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
I am once again impressed by a headset from Arctic Cooling, a company most primarily associate with cooling products. Like the P531 I reviewed earlier the P321 delivers a lot of bang for your buck. The P321 is an exceptional value with USB connectivity, retractable mic and lightweight construction all packaged for a low price. The in line control module is one of the better designed, conforming to your hand with every button in easy reach of your thumb."

Design wise, Samsung have done well by their 9-Series Ultrabook; the system is wrapped in dark cobalt blue aluminum chassis that adopts many of the design elements of an Apple Macbook Air, yet posses the large screen size of a MacBook Pro (albeit with better hardware) and a sticker prices that won't cause heart failure.

I wish there was just ONE little black box that would allow an IT Admin to connect any kind of hard drive to it, so there's no need to crack open a computer system, mess with BIOS settings or waste time trying to move GBs over a tediously slow USB 2.0 connection.
