The upcoming Z77, and Z78 chipsets.
     Sun, Jun 12 2011 | 9:00A | Tradeshows / Events | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
A majority of PC enthusiasts feel the X58 platform is dead, and that it is time to move on. It’s hard to argue against that thinking, as Sandy Bridge has proven to be a faster and better-overclocking chip then its older brothers. Some companies, however, like Asus and Gigabyte, seem to be believe it is premature to start playing “Taps” for the X58 chipset. So much so that they are planning to release new X58 motherboards. As these companies seem to be attempting to extend the life of the chipset, it seems likely that at least some type of X58-specific memory would be released as well. Patriot Memory steps into this niche with the Viper Xtreme DDR3 2000MHz 12GB kit. Released towards the end of 2010, these memory modules have received generally good reviews from both review sites and customers alike. Today, we will be giving you our own take on this kit.

COMPUTEX 2011 – Asus Wavi Xtion Kinect Clone Demo’d By Booth Babe
     Fri, Jun 10 2011 | 12:02P | Tradeshows / Events | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
Remember a couple years ago when Asus tried to ride the popularity of the Nintendo Wii by coming out with something that look eerily similar to the Wii Remote and Nunchuk? I think it was called the Eee Stick or something. Well, you know Kinect for Xbox 360 has been doing reasonably well? It looks like Asus wants a piece of that motion-sensing pie too.

Tablets have become quite the hot commodity in the last year or two, so it’s becoming increasingly difficult for companies to differentiate their products from the competition. I think Evolve III (Evolve Three) might have accomplished that with the Maestro-C Convertible.

Despite the lack of normal show goers there is plenty to see and I started my trek at Hall 1 (the main building) and then migrated to the Grand Hyatt Hotel for my first meeting with EVGA. The highlighted item in their suite was the famed, and anticipated, P67 FTW board. This board comes with the Classified configuration featuring 5 PCI Express video card slots and the NF200 chip.
