The Micron RealSSD C400 looks the same from the outside and that doesn't make for a very interesting story. We were able to get Justin Sykes, Director of SSD marketing for Micron Technology to give us a live demo of the new 256GB C400 versus a traditional 5400RPM hard drive in a pair of identical IBM notebook PCs that are fairly common among business travelers.

Corsair we all know for memory and that is how the company started, but over the past year they really have made a push into other markets instead of just memory. We have seen products like the 800D Case and the HS1 Headset. Well they have even more products planned for 2011. CES 2011: Intel announces new Core processors
     Thu, Jan 06 2011 | 2:15P | Tradeshows / Events | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
www.pcstats.com"Intel has introduced its second-generation Intel Core processor family at a press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011. New features include Intel Insider, Intel Quick Sync Video, and a new version of the company's Intel Wireless Display (WiDi), which now adds 1080p HD and content protection for those wishing to beam premium HD content from their notebook screen to their TV.

The second-generation Intel Core processor family is the first visibly smart microarchitecture to combine visual and 3D graphics technology with performance-leading microprocessors on a single chip, the company said. Incorporating the newly architected Intel HD graphics on each 32nm die enables significant graphics performance improvements over previous-generation graphics for both HD media processing and mainstream gaming.

The Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors also include the enhanced Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0. This feature automatically reallocates processor core and processor graphics resources to accelerate performance, giving users an immediate performance boost when and where it is needed. Other new chip features include Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX), Intel InTru 3-D, and Intel Clear Video Technology HD. Intel InTru 3-D enables immersive stereoscopic 3D to 3D-capable HDTVs or monitors via HDMI 1.4. The chips are made on Intel's 32nm manufacturing process on the company's second-generation high-k metal gate transistors."

CES 2011 Interesting - Lucid's Virtu to combine Sandy Bridge and VGA Graphics

www.pcstats.com

PCPerspective - "This software solution works on a whitelist/blacklist method in which the graphics "virtualization" is decided on in real-time by the Lucid software package. In a similar fashion to the NVIDIA Optimus technology, if the Lucid software finds an application that it thinks works best on the Intel SNB graphics, it will do so. If it finds the application will run best on the discrete card - gaming, high performance computing apps, etc - it will run it on the discrete card. NVIDIA or AMD, it doesn't matter."

CES Unveiled Fails to Impress Tech Media
     Thu, Jan 06 2011 | 1:15P | Tradeshows / Events | PermaLink
Posted by: STAFF
last night the Consumer Electronics Association held its first big event of their annual Consumer Electronics Show; CES Unveiled. This show is typically one that highlights all of the top products with many of the companies having won at least one products award during the year. However, this year seemed to be a rehash of last year with many of the same people showing the same stuff we talked about during CES 2010. After walking the overcrowded floor of the event for an hour we were able to find a few items that showed pretty good promise.

Microsoft will soon announce that Windows will now be developed to run on Arm processors. This opens up a huge world of software and support, and opens the way for another major processor developer to compete with Intel and AMD in the desktop market and above."
