NVIDIA® and OCZ Technology Cooperate in Bringing New
High-Performance Memory Specification to Market Sunnyvale,
CA—May 22, 2006—OCZ Technology Group, a worldwide leader in innovative,
ultra-high performance and high reliability memory, is pleased to announce the
design and development of a unique line SLI™-Ready memory modules with Enhanced
Performance Profiles (EPP), which will provide today’s enthusiasts with memory
solutions that exceed the performance capabilities of all other previous
offerings. With a long history of providing the most innovative products to the
performance-minded gaming and enthusiast community, OCZ has adopted the new EPP
open memory specification announced by NVIDIA to produce a new class of PC
technology that delivers enhanced overall system performance due to a symbiotic
relationship between OCZ modules and the NVIDIA nForce® 590 SLI media and
communications processor (MCP).
The
mission of Enhanced Performance Profiles is to offer optimized system operation
and compatibility through the collaboration and integration of OCZ configured
SPD (Serial Presence Detect) settings and BIOS designs on NVIDIA nForce 590
SLI-based motherboards. OCZ exclusively engineered select high-performance
modules with advanced SPD settings to allow compatible motherboards to recognize
and utilize the added information, ultimately increasing the performance
potential of the entire platform. Only motherboards equipped with the
custom-designed BIOS, such as those designed for NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCPs, can
detect the optimized SPD profiles of the EPP-based modules and ensure the memory
functions under the best possible conditions.
While still complying with standard JEDEC memory
specifications, OCZ modules with Enhanced Performance Profiles go above and
beyond conventional SPD settings by incorporating additional valuable data that
affects memory performance, including variables such as command rate and memory
voltage. These additions to the SPD specifications take out the guesswork and
provide enthusiasts and gamers with significant overclocked performance.
"EPP is what high-end memory
manufacturers have been waiting for years," commented Dr. Michael Schuette, VP
of Technology Development at OCZ Technology. "The extra performance unleashed by
mutual optimization of the memory and the mainboard's BIOS is a big leap away
from the one-size-fits-all doctrine of stiff industry standards towards a custom
interaction between the system and the memory," continued Dr. Schuette. "The
result is a more cost-effective, more powerful solution even for the standard
user without complicated CMOS setup customization."
"We are delighted to have worked closely with OCZ
in their development of a new line of high-performance EPP-based memory modules
targeted for PC enthusiasts," said Drew Henry, general manager of MCP business
at NVIDIA. "By using the new OCZ memory DIMMs which are now certified for use on
any NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI-based motherboard, consumers will be able to expose
new, higher levels of advanced performance and capabilities."
The new OCZ Technology EPP-based memory modules
will be a part of the certified NVIDIA SLI technology ecosystem compiled of a
selection of “interoperable components,” all of which elevate the standards of
performance for enthusiasts and gamers when operating together in the same
system.
OCZ
will announce the EPP-based DDR2 memory part numbers in the coming
weeks.
