Fujitsu Ups Ante With Faster, More Versatile LifeBook® P2000 Notebook
World’s Smallest Full-Featured Notebook Dresses Up For The Holidays

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — October 21, 2002 — Fujitsu PC Corporation (FPC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited (TSE:6702), today introduced the next generation of its award-winning LifeBook® P2000 notebook.  Renowned for its unbelievable features, diminutive size and affordable price, this wildly popular notebook arrives just in time for the holiday season.

The Fujitsu LifeBook P2000 notebook remains unchallenged as the world’s smallest full-featured notebook with a built-in modular bay.  Its DVD-RW combo drive and multimedia functionality are now complemented by a variety of enhancements that make it even more irresistible, including a faster processor, more storage capacity and for the first time USB 2.0.   Despite these additions, the P2000 notebook is still more affordable than most full-size notebooks with comparable configurations.  Easy on the pocketbook, the LifeBook P2000 notebook starts at $1,4991.

“The LifeBook P2000 notebook is the perfect gift for business professionals, students and technology enthusiasts,” said Sara Nelson, vice president of marketing, Fujitsu PC Corporation.  “No other notebook on the market bundles so many features into a size that fits easily inside a backpack or briefcase.”

The latest model is equipped with Transmeta® Corporation’s (NASDAQ:TMTA) enhanced energy-efficient 933MHz Crusoe™ TM5800 Processor with LongRun™ Power Management and comes with up to 384MB of system memory2.   The Crusoe processor provides users with extra power when they need it and conserves energy when the power demand is low. Users will appreciate the notebook’s ability to easily handle today’s productivity and entertainment applications while at the same time receiving extended battery life for all day computing.

For ultimate connectivity, Fujitsu has outfitted the P2000 notebook with two USB 2.0 ports.  At up to 480Mbps, users can transfer large digital video, music and data files at speeds up to 40 times faster than with USB 1.1.  In addition, the P2000 notebook comes standard with IEEE 1394 (FireWire), S-video out and SPDIF optical digital out.  Users can also opt for integrated WiFi™-compliant wireless LAN capabilities (IEEE 802.11b) to accompany the notebook’s existing modem and Ethernet.

No other notebook on the market combines so much functionality in such a compact form factor. The machine is a mere 10.6 inches wide by 7 inches deep by 1.59 inches high and weighs a slight 3.4 pounds.  Its modular bay design allows users to easily remove the optical drive and slide in a second battery, a modular floppy disk drive or weight saver.  The addition of the modular battery and high-capacity battery provides up to an unprecedented 12 hours3 of computing time.

The system comes preinstalled with Microsoft Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 Professional and is backed by a one-year International Limited Warranty for U.S. and Canadian customers. Users can choose the recommended configuration or customize their notebook utilizing the Fujitsu Configure To Order (CTO) Program. The P2000 notebook is sold through Fujitsu retail and reseller channels4 as well as at www.fujitsupc.com or 1-877-FPC-DIRECT.
