Leading Mobile Computing Resellers Add ViA's Wearable Computers to Their Product Offerings

    BURNSVILLE, Minn.--Nov. 9, 2000

ViA, Inc. today announced that Currie, Peak & Frazier of Orlando, FL, ABA Moriah of Richardson TX, Datavision Prologix of Warminster, PA, Mobility Concepts of Chicago, IL, Luna Communications of Sunnyvale, CA, Guardian Systems of Brookfield, WI and Pen Systems of Ontario, Canada have signed agreements to resell ViA's wearable computers as part of their solution offering. The seven information technology solutions providers, join ViA's other worldwide distributors in providing wearable solutions to mobile workers.
ViA, a leader in wearable computer technology recently launched its new Channel Partner Program that targets mobile computing VARs. "Wearable computers are a fast growing product category among mobile computing devices, because they fill the gaps between limited function PDAs and palm devices and bulky laptops and pen tablets." said Joe O'Leary, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at ViA.
Wearable computers give resellers an alternative to traditional mobile computing devices for point of sale, distribution centers, inspection and maintenance applications. The benefits of wearable computers are their ability to provide wireless two-way communication in a hands and eyes-free form in these environments. Also, the computer's body-worn design virtually eliminates the risk of damaging or losing it.
Crystal Magic, a Currie, Peak and Frazier customer will use ViA's wearable PC for sales order entry and photo capture at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. "Crystal Magic needed a hands-free, full function PC, that allowed sales team members freedom to walk among the Walt Disney guests, capture digital images, and wirelessly transmit them to their production facilities," said Beau Currie, Vice President of Currie, Peak and Frazier. "ViA's wearable computer worked well with their legacy system as well as gave them freedom to move as needed."
"We are very pleased with the ViA solution," Steve Rhodes, president of Crystal Magic. "The computer's truly mobile form will allow us to provide better service to Walt Disney World's guests."
ViA's rugged, lightweight wearable computers are currently being used by companies such as Northwest Airlines, Nabisco and GE Engine Services, Inc., a division of GE, in customer service, distribution center, inspection and maintenance applications. ViA's success with these companies has led the company to recently be named Minnesota's Fastest Growing Technology Company in 2000 as part of Deloitte & Touche's Fast 50 program.
ViA is exhibiting in Lernout & Hauspie's booth No. L5926 at Comdex. Prototypes of ViA's next generation Transmeta-based PC are also being shown at ViA's Hospitality Suite in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas during Comdex.
