Effect on Processor Temperature

We tested the Super Duper Slot Fans' ability to cool processor temp out of curiosity. We also checked out how well it did at keeping case temperature down.

It gave about a 5 degree edge on processor temp - which is always welcome! When testing its ability to cool case temp we used two different cases. Case A was a full tower and quite cavernous - the effects on case temp here were muted (~4 degrees). Case B on the other hand was a mid-tower, packed to the gills with stuff. Its high case temp was drastically reduced (~10 Degrees) with the addition of the Super Duper Slot Fan. In these tests the slot fan was positioned next to the AGP card.

The grill on the "Super Duper Slot Fan" exhausts out to the back of a computer. Placement can affect its performance however.

Effect on BGA chipset temperature.

How well do slot fans actually
perform at cooling the
heart and soul of a video card
- the BGA chipset?

To find out we tested the temperature of the BGA chipset on a TNT 2 Ultra (with fansink) in a Abit BP6 with dual 366's @ 550MHz (this test system also had three HD's - one being a very toasty 20 Gig). Because of the fansink on the chipset the thermistor was positioned on the backside over the center of the chipset. The Super Duper Slot Fan was positioned in the adjacent slot below the AGP TNT 2 Ultra. Thus the intake for the Super Duper Slot Fan was right next to the chipset.
