Benchmarks: SuperPI, Sandra 2002

SuperPI Source: SuperPI

SuperPI calculates the number PI to 1 Million digits in this raw number crunching benchmark. The benchmark is fairly diverse and allows the user to change the number of digits of PI that can be calculated from 16 Thousand to 32 Million. The benchmark, which uses 19 iterations in the test, is set 1 Million digits.

Lower numbers denote faster calculation times (seconds), and hence, better performance.

Super PI (1 Million digits) Benchmark Results (Lower is better)
Processor Seconds Ranking
1. P4 2.66 GHz 59
2. XP 2400+ (2 GHz) 57
3. XP 2700+ (2.16 GHz) 51
4. XP 2700+ (2.4 GHz) 48

AMD has always lead in SuperPi because it's a pure FPU tester with no special code. 8 seconds between the P4 2.66 GHz and the stock XP 2700+ is a huge gap! Poor, poor Intel - haha!

Sisoft Sandra 2002 Pro Source: Sandra

Sandra is designed to test the theoretical power of a complete system and individual components. The numbers taken though are again, purely theoretical and may not represent real world performance. Higher numbers represent better performance.

5b. Integer ALU - XP 2700+ (2.4 GHz) 2794 MB/s
6a. Float FPU - XP 2700+ (2.16 GHz) 2390 MB/s
6b. Float FPU - XP 2700+ (2.4 GHz) 2627 MB/s

While these numbers are the highest numbers I have ever seen, I'm not big in theoretical numbers so take them as you will.
