We all know how fast the nForce2/Radeon 9700 Pro is, and for this review it was not used. Our tests with the MSI K7N2G-ILSR are based entirely on the use of the integrated GeForce4 MX GPU.

SysMark2002 is more of an extension of SysMark2001 rather then a whole new benchmark. The applications used during testing have been updated and most importantly for AMD users, the new SysMark2002 uses the Windows Media Encoder 7.1 which supports the AthlonXP's SSE instructions.

Internet Content (FSB/Memory) Sysmarks Ranking
1. K7N2-L - 166/400 274
2. K7N2G-ILSR - 166/333 280
3. K7N2G-ILSR - 175/350 296

Office Productivity (FSB/Memory)

1. K7N2-L - 166/400 171
2. K7N2G-ILSR - 166/333 183
3. K7N2G-ILSR - 175/350 189

Yes, I know nForce2 runs fastest when the memory is running in sync with the FSB, but this shows that pretty well too. Overclocking brings a slight performance boost.

Content Creation Winstone 2002 is a system-level, application-based benchmark that measures a PC's overall performance when running top, Windows-based, 32-bit, content creation applications on Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me, or Windows XP.

Business Winstone 2002 is a system-level, application-based benchmark that measures a PC's overall performance when running today's top-selling Windows-based 32-bit applications on Windows 98, Windows 2000 (SP6 or later), Windows Me, or Windows XP. Business Winstone doesn't mimic what these packages do; it runs real applications through a series of scripted activities and uses the time a PC takes to complete those activities to produce its performance scores.

1. K7N2-L - 166/400 31
2. K7N2G-ILSR - 166/333 31.3

Business Winstone (FSB/Memory)

1. K7N2-L - 166/400 45.1
2. K7N2G-ILSR - 166/333 44.3
3. K7N2G-ILSR - 175/350 45.5

The Winstone 2002 benchmarks show that MSI's the two motherboards perform about the same (no big surprise). Since we're testing this board based on its integrated video chipset, benchmarks for the FIC AU11, Epox 8RDA+ and Asus A7N8X motherboards which did not make use of the IGP, are not included here.
