MSI E7205 Master-L Workstation Motherboard Review - PCSTATS

Benchmarks: ScienceMark 2.0, Cinebench 4

ScienceMark 2.0 Beta Source: Sciencemark.org

"MolDyn" - Science Mark 2.0 performs Molecular Dynamics Simulations. It has the flexibility of simulating any 5 noble gases, in 3 different crystallographic configurations, with variable numbers of atoms at a user specified temperature.

"Primordia" - Science Mark 2.0 computes the electronic orbitals for the atoms between Hydrogen and Promethium in the periodic table using a Restricted Hartree-Fock method. Primordia outputs the total all electron energy of the atom in addition to the kinetic and potential contributions. The user is allowed to specify different grids upon which the orbitals are determined.

ScienceMark 2.0 Beta Benchmark Results
MSI E7205 Master-L Seconds Ranking
1. MolDyn - 133/266 84.85
2. Primordia - 133/266 571.41

Unfortunately the other systems were not available for the ScienceMark benchmarks. With no special code for SSE2, the MSI E7205 Master-L does poorly because it has to rely on the relatively weak FPU of the P4 2.8 GHz processor.

Cinebench 4D Source: MAXON Computer

CINEMA 4D R8 is the center of the CINEMA 4D universe, the powerful core that can be extended with individual modules. CINEMA 4D R8 provides the tools necessary for most day-to-day 3D tasks, from simple logos to complex visualizations.

Cinebench 4D Test Results
MSI E7205 Master-L Seconds Ranking
1. Shading Cinema 4D- 133/266 22.69
2. Shading OpenGL - 133/266 35.56
2. Raytracing- 133/266 28.35

Cinebench 4D does have code for SSE2 so here we see it does pretty well. Unfortunately the other test systems were not available for this benchmark.
