Unreal Tournament 2003

Source: Epic

Unreal Tournament 2003 is the sequel to 1999's multiple 'Game of the Year' award winner. It uses the very latest Unreal Engine technology - where graphics, sound and game play are taken beyond the bleeding edge. Unreal Tournament 2003 employs the use of Vertex as well as Pixel Shaders and it's recommended that you use a DirectX 8 videocard to get the most out of the game.

As we expected the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP performs just like the other i875P based motherboards when at stock speeds.

The 8KNXP is a well rounded motherboard

Who would have guessed that the Pentium 4 would be as popular as it is today when it was first released? The Pentium 4 has matured very well and it's currently the fastest desktop processor on the market.

Gigabyte has done a great job with their GA-8KNXP, it's easily one of the best i875P motherboards out there. With Serial ATA/Serial ATA RAID, IDE RAID, IEEE 1394, CSA Intel Gigabit LAN, 5.1 audio, dual BIOS's and Gigabyte's dual power system what more could you ask for? If you can find something that Gigabyte did not already include there are five PCI slots and a lone 8x AGP Pro port for your expansion needs. Did I mention Gigabyte also includes a copy of Norton Internet Security 2003 which includes their ever popular Norton Anti Virus 2003? Of course all this comes at a pretty steep price, the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP retails for a hefty $300 CDN ($220 US), but it is one of the best on the market.

Despite all the integrated features, the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP still has a pretty user friendly layout. Serial ATA ports are all nicely tucked together, you do not need to remove the videocard to install system memory and the main ATX power connector is in its best location to the right of the DIMM slots.

The only thing I can complain about is Gigabyte not including a clear CMOS jumper. Instead when you run into trouble you must short two solder points which can be very irritating and difficult to do once the board is installed. Other then that though the board is near perfect.

As you have seen from the benchmarks the board is also very fast, often able to beat the Asus P4C800-DLX and Epox 4PCA3+; both of which are among the fastest i875P motherboards in the market. If you're looking for a solid motherboard loaded with features then you should definitely check out the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP. It's fast and there's not much more you can ask from a motherboard, that's for sure!
