Benchmarks: Winbench 99, SiSoft Sandra 2004

Winbench 99 V1.2 Source: e-Testinglabs.com

WinBench 99 is a subsystem-level benchmark that measures the performance of a PC's graphics, disk, and video subsystems in a Windows environment. WinBench 99's tests can run on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows Me systems.

VIA Reference PT880 Board Score Ranking
1a. Business Disk - 200/400

9180

1b. Business Disk - 211/422

8940

2a. High-End Disk - 200/400 35300

2b.

High-End Disk - 211/422 34800
3a. Business Graphics - 200/400 831
3c. Business Graphics - 211/422 867
4a. High-End Graphics - 200/400 1600
4b. High-End Graphics - 211/422 1680

HDD performance suffers as usual when the system is overclocked. The VIA PT880 scores what we'd expect in the Graphics portion of Winbench 99.

Sandra is designed to test the theoretical power of a complete system and individual components. The numbers taken though are again, purely theoretical and may not represent real world performance.

6a. Float SSE2 - 200/400 5086 MB/s
6b. Float SSE2 - 211/422 5318 MB/s

CPU scores are what we would expect from a Pentium 4 3.2C. We're extremely impressed with the amount of bandwidth that the PT880 has to offer, VIA usually has weak memory bandwidth for first generation chipsets. We're glad to see this is not the case with the PT880.
