Benchmarks: Doom 3, Advanced 3DMark2001 tests

Doom 3

Source: id Software

Doom 3 is the most advanced OpenGL game to date, it takes advantage of the latest videocard technology and pushes the processing power of the CPU to its absolute limits. At its highest setting Ultra quality, texture sizes pass the 500MB mark which means even tomorrows videocards will have a hard time running everything. The framerates in the game itself are locked at 60 fps so anything above that point is wasted. Each test is run three times and with the third run being recorded.

Unfortunately the other videocards were not available for the Doom 3 tests as we just got ourself a copy of the game. Amazingly, the game is only playable at 640x480 at low quality settings! Remember Doom 3 is capped at 60 fps during play, so it's best for videocards to aim for that mark.

3DMark2001SE Source: FutureMark

By combining DirectX8 support with completely new graphics, it continues to provide good overall system benchmarks. 3DMark2001SE has been created in cooperation with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance by using real-world gaming technology to test a system's true performance abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using Ipion real-time physics.

Higher numbers denote better performance.

It's nice to see that even with AA and or AF enabled the Albatron Trinity PC5900 is able to score well. With 4xAA and 8x AF enabled, we still get over 10k.
