Benchmarks: X2: The Threat, UT2003

X2: The Threat Source: Egosoft

A completely rewritten 3D engine based on DirectX8 encompasses many visual effects such as volumetric Nebulae (gas clouds) that have a real impact in the game (you can hide in them) and many new engine, shield, weapon and explosion effects. Objects cast real dynamic 3D shadows! Dynamic DP3 bump mapping allows a previously unseen level of detail.

X2 The Threat
640x480 FPS Ranking
ASRock K8 Combo-Z/ASR (Ali M1689 200/400) 189.189
Soltek SL-K8TPro-939 (K8T800 Pro 200/400) 192.078
Epox 9NDA3+ (NF3 Ultra 200/400) 198.56
Albatron K8X890 Pro II (K8T890 200/400) 208.974
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum (NF4 Ultra 200/400) 172.74
Chaintech Zenith VNF4 Ultra (NF4 Ultra 200/400) 171.042
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI (NF4 SLI 200/400) 211.237
DFI LANParty NF4 SLI-DR (NF4-SLI 200/400) 185.347
AOpen n250a-FR (NF3 250 200/400) A64 3200+ 167.462
Asus K8N4-E DLX (NF4 200/400) A64 3200+ 173.749

X2: The Threat framerates are very nice and the Asus K8N4-E DLX can keep up with many of its more expensive counterparts. Nforce 4 Ultra motherboards don't like this benchmark for some reason, and the K8N4-E Deluxe manages to beat out its faster siblings here.

Unreal Tournament 2003

Source: Epic

Unreal Tournament 2003 is the sequel to 1999's multiple 'Game of the Year' award winner. It uses the very latest Unreal Engine technology - where graphics, sound and game play are taken beyond the bleeding edge. Unreal Tournament 2003 employs the use of Vertex as well as Pixel Shaders and it's recommended that you use a DirectX 8 videocard to get the most out of the game.

Asus K8N4-E DLX (NF4 200/400) A64 3200+ 91.42

UT2003 framerates are exactly what we'd expect, though we'd rather the K8N4-E Deluxe had beat out the older AOpen board.
