Benchmarks: PCMark04, PCMark05

PCMark04 Source: FutureMark

PCMark04 is an application-based benchmark and a premium tool for measuring overall PC performance. It uses portions of real applications instead of including whole applications or using specifically created code. This allows PCMark04 to maintain a smaller installation size while still giving accurate results.

The high CPU score pushes the Gigabyte GA-8I955X Royal to overall victory in this benchmark, though this fact is somewhat let down by mediocre memory bandwidth numbers like we saw in Sandra.

We've only had time to test a couple of motherboards with PCMarks newest 2005 version of its benchmark. The 955X Express chipset seems to have a clear cut performance advantage over the 945P here. We'll see if our 3D gaming benchmarks reflect this.
