Benchmarks: Comanche 4, UT2003, Doom3

Comanche 4 Source: Novalogic

The Comanche 4 benchmark demo is a unique benchmark as it represents a real-world gaming experience. It contains the single player "Eagle's Talon" mission from the game as well as a detailed cinematic. This DirectX 8.1 benchmark demo will measure your system's performance in the standard frames per second format. The benchmark was run with audio disabled.

Comanche 4 Benchmark Results
640x480 Points Ranking
Gigabyte G-MAX N512 57.08
Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi 63.48

Another CPU and memory intensive 3D benchmark. The 2GHz AMD Turion64-equipped Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi pulls out ahead by a small but noticeable margin.

Unreal Tournament 2003

Source: Epic

Unreal Tournament 2003 is the sequel to 1999's multiple 'Game of the Year' award winner. It uses the very latest Unreal Engine technology - where graphics, sound and game play are taken beyond the bleeding edge. Unreal Tournament 2003 employs the use of Vertex as well as Pixel Shaders and it's recommended that you use a DirectX 8 videocard to get the most out of the game.

UT2003 Benchmark Results - Botmatch:
640x480 Points Ranking
Gigabyte G-MAX N512 81.18
Sony VAIO VGN-T140P 17.61
Gigabyte G-MAX N203 23.26

Sony VAIO VGN-T140P 9.55
Gigabyte G-MAX N203 12.46
Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi 80.43

The extra graphical power of the ATI Radeon X700 GPU allows the Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi to pull away in the high-resolution flyby test. Otherwise UT2003 is incapable of differentiating between the two highest-powered notebooks in the test grouping.

Doom3

Source: ID Software

Doom 3 is the most advanced game to date. it takes advantage of the latest videocard technology and pushes the processing power of the CPU to its absolute limit. At its highest setting, Ultra quality, texture sizes pass the 500MB mark which means even tomorrow's videocards will have a hard time running everything. The frame rates in the game itself are locked at 60 fps so anything above that point is wasted. Each test is run three times with the third run being recorded.

HQ 1024 x 768: Points Ranking

Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi 43.7

In our final and most demanding benchmark, the Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi posts some great results; 43FPS in HQ high resolution DOOM3 is a great score for a notebook. Doom3 is easily playable on this notebook at 640x480, and even 1024x768 with decent framerates.
