AMD Athlon64 FX-60 Dual Core Processor Review
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 Dual Core Processor Review - PCSTATS
It's important to note that each core has its own 128KB L1 and 1MB L2 cache; so essentially what we have here are two Athlon64 FX-55's squeezed into one package.

Pure 32-Bit Benchmarks: Maya Render Test, Super Pi

Maya Render Test Source: Maya-Test Center

Because of different displacement algorithms and continuous improvements of the renderer, Maya 6 and its corresponding batch renderer is absolutely required. The Test Scene is fairly processor-intensive and can take anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes to render depending on your system specifications. Rendering produces 1 frame (512x512pixels). Lower times are better.

Maya - RenderTest
1 CPU Seconds Ranking
Intel Pentium D 840 61
AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ 46
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 43
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 @ 2.88 GHz 41
2 CPU Seconds Ranking
Intel Pentium D 840 40
AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ 28
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 23
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 @ 2.88 GHz 22

In Maya RenderTest where lower times are best, the dual core AMD Athlon64 FX-60 and X2 4800+ processors completely dominate the dual core Intel Pentium D 840. Between the AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ and FX-60, things are pretty close. Overclocking shaves a second or two off of the FX-60's stock times, which are certainly nice to begin with.

Super Pi Source: SuperPI

SuperPI calculates the number PI to 1 Million digits in this raw number crunching benchmark. The benchmark is fairly diverse and allows the user to change the number of digits of PI that can be calculated from 16 Thousand to 32 Million. The benchmark, which uses 19 iterations in the test, is set 1 Million digits.

Lower numbers denote faster calculation times (seconds), and hence, better performance.

SuperPi
1 Million Digits: Points Ranking
Intel Pentium D 840 39
AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ 35
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 32
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 @ 2.88 GHz 30
Hexus piFast: Points Ranking
Intel Pentium D 840 66.31
AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ 49.98
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 46.38
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 @ 2.88 GHz 42.16

Looking at the SuperPi results, the dual core AMD Athlon64 FX-60 processor posts the quickest times. Overclocking shaves a couple more seconds off what is already a really fast result. The dual core Intel Pentium D 840 ends up being about 30% slower than the stock FX-60 in the Hexus PiFast test.
