Pure 32-Bit Benchmarks: Maya Render Test, Super Pi

Maya Render Test Source: Maya-Test Center

Because of different displacement algorithms and continuous improvements of the renderer, Maya 6 and its corresponding batch renderer is absolutely required. The Test Scene is fairly processor-intensive and can take anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes to render depending on your system specifications. Rendering produces 1 frame (512x512pixels). Lower times are better.

Maya - RenderTest
1 CPU Seconds Ranking
Intel Pentium D 840 61
Intel Pentium D 940 60
AMD Athlon64 4000+ 47
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 43
AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ 45
AMD Athlon64 FX-62 40
2 CPU Seconds Ranking
Intel Pentium D 840 40
Intel Pentium D 940 38
AMD Athlon64 4000+ 47
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 23
AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ 26
AMD Athlon64 FX-62 19

The Maya RenderTest numbers for all of the dual core AMD systems are quite good. The Athlon64 X2 5000+ and FX-62 both perform very well when the second core is added to the mix (lower times are best). Under a single core load, the socket 939 FX-60 and socket AM2 X2 5000+ are about on par. Cache does make a bit of a difference in this rendering benchmark, but not as much as anticipated....

Super Pi Source: SuperPI

SuperPI calculates the number PI to 1 Million digits in this raw number crunching benchmark. The benchmark is fairly diverse and allows the user to change the number of digits of PI that can be calculated from 16 Thousand to 32 Million. The benchmark, which uses 19 iterations in the test, is set 1 Million digits.

Lower numbers denote faster calculation times (seconds), and hence, better performance.

SuperPi
1 Million Digits: Seconds Ranking
Intel Pentium D 840 39
Intel Pentium D 940 40
AMD Athlon64 4000+ 35
AMD Athlon64 FX-60 32
AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ 34
AMD Athlon64 FX-62 31

Super Pi tests the processor FPU. From the results in this chart, it's clear that the socket AM2 Athlon64 X2 5000+ and Athlon64 FX-62 processors both have a ton of processing power to offer. All Athlon64 processors lead in this test, regardless if they utilize DDR or DDR-2 memory.
