Pure 32-Bit Benchmarks: Maya Render Test, Super Pi

Maya Render Test Source: Maya-Test Center

Because of different displacement algorithms and continuous improvements of the renderer, Maya 6 and its corresponding batch renderer is absolutely required. The Test Scene is fairly processor-intensive and can take anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes to render depending on your system specifications. Rendering produces 1 frame (512x512pixels). Lower times are better.

3D applications like Maya traditionally take advantage of the extra bandwidth cutting edge system provide, although it doesn't seem to help the Intel Pentium D 940 processor by much. Maya definitely sees a benefit in render times when the computer is running a dual core processor. The Pentium D 940 completes the render test 22 seconds, but virtually all the reference AMD Athlon64 processors outperform it.

Super Pi Source: SuperPI

SuperPI calculates the number PI to 1 Million digits in this raw number crunching benchmark. The benchmark is fairly diverse and allows the user to change the number of digits of PI that can be calculated from 16 Thousand to 32 Million. The benchmark, which uses 19 iterations in the test, is set 1 Million digits.

Lower numbers denote faster calculation times (seconds), and hence, better performance.

Super Pi does not take advantage of L2 cache, and this is why the Intel Pentium D 940 processor performs on par with the Pentium D 840 model. The AMD Athlon64 FX-62 posts the best results of any chip tested thus far by PCSTATS.
