Stability and Management Software

Stability and reliability are the most critical factors for a server, especially one in an enterprise level environment. Tyan have earned an excellent reputation for building mission critical parts in our experience, and their boards are widely used throughout the industry. During testing the Tyan Thunder i7501 2726UGN Xtreme did not exhibit any signs of instability but that shouldn't be too surprising.

Tyan's System Monitor is easily the best hardware monitor we have ever used as it's so powerful and detailed. It allows you not just to check voltages and CPU temperatures but it also shows you how hot the VRM is running and can even monitor up to six case fans! Should something fail onboard, the Tyan System Monitor can be made to send an e-mail out to the system administrator or in a worse case scenario, the system can be rebooted or shut down completely.

As you can see, Tyan's System Monitor can not just show you CPU temperatures, it can also warn you of CPU speed fluctuations, if it drops below a certain point the program can send you an email, reboot the system or shut it down completely to save the system from damage.

Because servers are meant to be up and running 24/7, it's important to monitor other system devices as well and with the Thunder i7501 Xtreme 2726UGN, you can also check out how the VRM (Voltage Regulator Module) is doing even if you are off site and VNC'ing into the box over a VPN connection.

Cooling is vital to any server and with Tyan's System Monitor, you can check the status of up to six fans! Enthusiast desktop users would love to have this type of flexibility, unfortunately it's only important in the server world though.
